Information

The "Abraham Accords Institute for Peace and Regional Integration" was founded on the occasion of the state visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog in September 2022.

In the Middle East, a fundamental change is taking place in relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors. For over 60 years, a large part of the Arab world refused to recognize the state of Israel and to establish official diplomatic relations.

The year 2020 marks a turning point when four Arab states - Bahrain, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Sudan - sign the Abraham Accords together with Israel: An agreement on the comprehensive normalization of relations and cooperation in politics, business, research and civil society.

The normalization process goes far beyond mere security interests. Since 2020, a large number of high-level state visits have taken place and a large number of intergovernmental agreements have been concluded. In all areas, the signatory states reaffirm their declared goal of focusing on intensive economic and technical cooperation in a warm peace.

The Abraham Process is based on the realization that the major issues of the future - the fight against climate change, the decarbonization of economies and technology cooperation, particularly in the energy sector - can only be mastered together. The contracting states promote the coming together of young future-oriented people in the fields of mobility, IT, health and energy transition. The aim is to develop ideas together and find innovative solutions to common challenges.

The Abraham Accords are therefore a real opportunity for peace between Israel and its neighbors and for a stable and prosperous future.
